An idea born during the pandemic to support the fight against the Coronavirus.
MILAN – iH Hotels Group, with an act of great solidarity for the Municipality of Milan, aimed at containing the spread of the coronavirus epidemic, stands in support of the emergency by donating 150,000 surgical masks to the city. The appointment is set for September 30, 2020, when the Deputy Mayor of Milan, Anna Scavuzzo, will receive the General Manager and a delegation from the hotel chain for a public thank-you at the courtyard of Palazzo Marino.
The iH Hotels Group purchased the medical supplies with a focus on compliance with regulations, ensuring safety, and protecting health—not only of its employees but also of the community in which it operates. The management decided, from the outset, to actively support the fight against Covid-19 by launching a fundraising campaign during the peak of the pandemic through the Gofundme platform. A total of 500,000 surgical masks were purchased to be donated to various municipalities in Italy where the 26 4- and 5-star iH hotels are located, including 10 in the Metropolitan City of Milan.
iH Hotels Group, through the fundraising project and the contribution of its staff and management, actively participated in the prevention of Coronavirus transmission. “The idea was born at the beginning of the lockdown,” said Mauro Troisi, the General Manager of iH Hotels Group. “We could not remain indifferent in the face of such an emergency. In fact, as early as March 18, 2020, we launched a fundraising campaign called ‘iH Hotels & Friends,’ which led to this huge act of solidarity that involved everyone within the company, as well as suppliers, customers, friends, and family. With the hashtag #insiemesivince, shared on the various social networks of our hotels, we wanted to convey the message that only by uniting all forces can great results be achieved. We feel it is our duty to support the local community, especially the city of Milan, which was the first to suffer.”

Today’s donation will allow us to continue in the coming months, particularly reaching the most at-risk population groups or those in economic difficulty,” said the Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Milan, Anna Scavuzzo.
An additional 100,000 surgical masks were donated by iH Hotels Group to the Municipality of Bari on September 16, 2020, where two important prestigious properties are located. The upcoming events are scheduled with the municipalities of Florence, Rome, and Bologna.
