iH Hotels Group Donates 50,000 Surgical Masks to the Municipality of Florence
FLORENCE – To support the emergency caused by the coronavirus epidemic, the Italian hotel chain iH Hotels Group organized a fundraising campaign during the peak of the epidemic. Today, this turns into an act of great solidarity: 500,000 surgical masks were purchased to be donated to the Italian municipalities where the 26 hotels of the iH brand are located. Among them, three are in the Metropolitan City of Florence: iH Hotels Firenze Business, a 4-star hotel on the outskirts of the city, and iH Hotels Firenze Select and Residence Executive, located close to the historic center.
On October 7, 2020, at 3:00 PM, a public thank-you meeting was held in complete safety at the Sala d’Arme in Palazzo Vecchio, with Mayor Dario Nardella, the Councillor for Welfare and Health, Andrea Vannucci, and the General Manager of iH Group, Mauro Troisi, accompanied by a delegation from the hotel chain, to donate 50,000 surgical masks to the city of Florence.
During the beginning of the lockdown, iH Hotels Group launched a fundraising project, immediately becoming an active part of the fight against Covid-19. All the staff and management of the hotel chain actively participated in preventing the spread of the new coronavirus, thanks to the fundraising campaign launched through the Gofundme platform, titled iH Hotels & Friends.
“This important donation is a demonstration of the big heart of iH Hotels Group for Florence and the people of Florence,” said Mayor Dario Nardella and Councillor for Welfare Andrea Vannucci. “The 50,000 masks donated will be used by municipal employees and school staff. It is essential to wear these protective devices, which, along with hand sanitizers and maintaining social distancing, are our greatest allies in defending against the virus. The solidarity of the private sector, as well as the Third sector, the world of volunteering, and associations, has been a fundamental resource in addressing the Coronavirus emergency, and it continues to be so even now. Thanks to iH Hotels Group for this wonderful and useful initiative alongside the cities and citizens in the fight against Covid.”

“We could not remain indifferent in the face of such an emergency,” said Mauro Troisi, the General Manager of iH Hotels Group. “In fact, as early as March 18, 2020, we launched a fundraising campaign that involved everyone within the company, as well as suppliers, customers, friends, and family. With the hashtag #insiemesivince, shared on the various social networks of our hotels, we wanted to convey the message that only by uniting all forces can great results be achieved. The medical supplies,” added the GM of the Italian hotel chain, “were purchased with respect for the regulations, with a focus on safety and the protection of health—not only of our employees but also of the community in which we operate.”
