Milan in Spring | What to See in a Few Days

Milan, a city to discover!

All the must-see itineraries!

Milan is a spectacle... especially in the spring season when it is filled with colors and flowers. It's impossible not to notice them; they are everywhere! The city of design and fashion, which always offers great inspiration, bursts into life with the beautiful weather. Just pass by Piazza Tommaseo where the pink magnolias immediately catch the eye (super trendy on social media). But there are many other corners of the city that are colored by blossoming flowers: starting with the camellia groves around the walls of the Sforza Castle and the flower carpet of the Biblioteca degli Alberi.

So, if you are in Milan during this time, you will discover a city different from usual. Are you looking for inspiration for an unusual tour?

Follow our tips!

The neighborhoods of Milan

Let yourself be inspired by the colors and styles. Each neighborhood has its own identity and brings new energy to Milan. There's something for everyone: the street style of Ortica, with murals decorating the buildings; the bohemian chic Brera, filled with flower shops, boutiques, and Sunday brunches; Porta Romana, gearing up for the upcoming Winter Olympics and in the meantime offering plenty of fun spots. Take advantage of the beautiful days to take a stroll.

Explore new areas like the Eastern District of Milan: very chic!

The central-eastern area of Porta Venezia stands out for its Liberty-style buildings, the beloved Indro Montanelli Public Gardens, and for those who enjoy frantic shopping along Corso Buenos Aires.

Or, if you are staying in the Città Studi area, enjoy the quiet, green neighborhood, populated by students and professors, where between low-rise buildings and beautiful architecture, it’s easy to feel at home and take a relaxing afternoon walk.

A bike ride

If you have only a few days to visit Milan in spring, we recommend a nice bike ride.

It’s easy to get around Milan on two wheels, cycling between the skyscrapers and gardens of CityLife or along the bike path that runs through the creative district of Tortona. Don’t forget to pass by Parco Sempione, a classic spot for anyone visiting Milan for the weekend. For a longer excursion, there are also three cycling routes that follow the Naviglio Grande, Naviglio Pavese, and Naviglio Martesana. Along the canals, there are several pleasant itineraries, especially in the sunshine and beautiful days of April and May.

Visiting Milan by bike is also better for the environment, and you will discover unexpected details of the city—let yourself be surprised! And if you don’t have a bike, use the Bike Sharing system; it won’t be hard to find a bike or scooter to rent!

Open-air art

For a cultural weekend in Milan, we recommend an open-air art tour!

Where? Absolutely in the now-famous CityLife district: one of the most prestigious futuristic projects built in Milan for EXPO 2015, which, with the designs of the Three Towers – the spectacular skyscrapers by Zaha Hadid, Daniel Libeskind, and Arata Isozaki – helped make the Milan skyline one of the most elegant and photographed in the world. Did you know that the Towers became famous not only for the star architects who designed them but also for their nicknames, inspired by Sergio Leone’s Western films? Zaha Hadid’s “The Twisted”: a 44-story tower with a dynamic twisting movement that makes it appear as though it is made of elastic material. Libeskind’s “The Curved” Tower, reaching 175 meters in height, is designed as part of an ideal sphere that surrounds the Piazza Tre Torri. And Isozaki’s “The Straight,” a 209-meter tall tower with 50 floors!
