Top holidays in Sardinia
The best beaches you absolutely cannot miss
Did you know that Sardinia is home to some of the most famous beaches in the world?
The best ones are located along the southwestern coast, which is why staying in Villasimius gives you easy access to some of these stunning beaches.
Let yourself be inspired by our recommendations!
Let's start with one of the gems of the southeastern coast: Campus Beach, protected by the Capo Carbonara Marine Area. Situated at the mouth of a small river, surrounded by reeds and Mediterranean scrub, it's the perfect spot for families with children and those who love long swims. The wide, long beach is made of soft golden sand that gently slopes into a crystal-clear sea with greenish hues and shallow, gradual bottoms. Two promontories slightly protect it from the strong winds that often sweep across the island. Behind it, you'll find the small Cuccureddus Beach.
The journey continues to Porto Giunco Beach, one of the 10 most beautiful beaches in Italy. Located at the foot of a promontory, it features an ancient Spanish watchtower, from which the beach gets its name, "Torre di Porto Giunco." The shoreline is made of fine white sand with delicate opalescent pink shades, a result of tiny fragments from the pink granite rocks eroded over time. The water is a pale blue and always clear, especially on days with a Mistral wind. As you move away from the coast, the sea changes color, displaying a myriad of shades of blue.
Other beaches worth visiting include: Simius Beach, Punta Molentis, Campulongu, Risto Beach, Porto Sa Ruxi, and Peppino Rock at Punta Santa Giusta (Castiadas area)!
Come with us and discover all the top beaches of Sardinia:
1.Campus Beach
Come and discover the 50 shades of… blue.
Spiaggia di Campus is a long stretch of pristine, fine sand located between Porto sa Ruxi and Campulongu, surrounded by lush Mediterranean vegetation. Here, you can find our Lido Le Zagare, which offers hotel guests an umbrella and two sunbeds with the hotel card.
To say this beach is simply beautiful would be an understatement: take some time to walk along Spiaggia di Campus, a vast expanse of white sand at the gates of one of Sardinia's most famous tourist destinations, within a protected area at the southeastern tip of the island. Discover the benefits of walking along the shore and sinking your feet into the fine sand, and you'll surely appreciate its soft surface that invites you to dive into the most turquoise sea in Italy. Just four strokes, and as you raise your gaze, you'll be mesmerized by the thick Mediterranean vegetation surrounding the beach, which can only be seen and appreciated from the sea. For non-swimmers, even a nice pedalo ride is a great way to enjoy the breathtaking views of the blue sea, the light blue sky, and the green trees along the coast.
And at sunset, everything becomes even more magical.
2. Punta Molentis Beach
Porto Sa Ruxi Beach is located within the Capo Carbonara Marine Park, a protected area known for its natural beauty. The beach is characterized by soft sand dunes and crystal-clear, pale blue waters that create a perfect coastal landscape, dividing the area into small coves. Behind the beach, you’ll find beautiful junipers, offering welcome shade for visitors and local wildlife. The fragrant junipers provide a perfect escape from the scorching sun. Porto Sa Ruxi is also known for its strong winds, making it an ideal destination for surf enthusiasts. The beach’s remote and natural setting makes it an excellent choice for a peaceful and active day by the sea.
3. Punta Molentis Beach
Of great charm is the beach of Is Molentis: its stretch of golden sand is truly scenic! It is a small white sand beach with a sea of changing colors, dominated by a hill that hides among the Mediterranean vegetation the remains of a nuraghe. The beach is surrounded by rocks that rise up to 15 meters. Its unique shape and rocky details make it ideal for snorkeling and diving activities.
Is Molentis beach is located on the southeastern coast of Sardinia: with its unmistakable charm, it has also been the setting for some famous advertising spots. The water, always extremely clear, the white sand on one side, and the granite quarry on the other make it unique and unforgettable. The seabed is shallow and sandy. Due to its shape, similar to an isthmus, it is quite sheltered from the winds, which is why it is also frequented by families with children.
4.Porto Giunco Beach
The most famous is Porto Giunco Beach, with its pinkish reflections due to the granite present along the coast. Just a short distance from the beach, you'll find the Notteri Lagoon, where you can witness the spectacle of flamingos in the wild.
It is a true Caribbean corner in Sardinia. No wonder it’s called the pearl of the southeastern coast: a sublime strip of fine sand and calm sea that blends seamlessly with the sky. Here, you can spend wonderful days.
It’s a must-visit stop if you are in the area—impossible not to appreciate its Mediterranean nature, both above and below the water. Stunning underwater landscapes can be admired simply with a mask and fins. The enchanting scenery is mainly due to its position in a cove nestled between promontories, providing natural protection from the winds. Sunbathing here gives the sensation of being in a privileged corner of the world. An oasis to relax in a crystal-clear sea, surrounded by junipers, mastic trees, and Mediterranean scrub that fragrance the air.
5.Campulongu Beach
To make your experience unique and enjoy the most beautiful beaches, this summer stay at iH Hotels Villasimius Le Zagare. A comfortable 4-star hotel nestled in an oasis of peace, with all the necessary services for a relaxing holiday in Sardinia.
